Columbus, Ohio - October 4, 2017 - Competition began bright and early at the Columbus International CSI 3*, part of the Split Rock Jumping Tour, at Brave Horse Show Park in Johnstown, Ohio.
Alex Granato, Wellington, FL, and Waomi, owned by Amalaya Investments, won the 1.40 Meter Speed class with no faults in a time of 64.908 seconds. They beat a field of 32 horse and rider combinations, of which there were only four other clear rounds over the Olaf Petersen designed course.
Emanuel Andrade continued his winning ways from the Columbus International CSI 2* the week previously, where he either won or placed in every class he entered. Andrade won the 1.30 Meter Jumper speed class aboard Tupac Van De Vrombautshoeve Z, owned by his Hollow Creek Farm.
Always a threat in speed classes, Andrade bested the 77-horse field in the competition with a time of 52.22 seconds without lowering a single rail. Andrade, who is only 21, has already represented his home country of Venezuela in the Olympic Games as an individual rider.
Michael Tokaruk of Germantown, TN, and his Tokaruk Show Stables were very successful on the first day of the SRJT Columbus International CSI 3*, as he took first place in the 1.20 Meter Table II.b class with Tenacious D. The pair were double clear in a winning time of 39.69 seconds.
Tokaruk trains Alex Turner and her Vanrock, who won the 1.10 Meter Table II.b Jumper class, adding her blue ribbon to the tack room display in the barn.
