2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event HostsSpecial Events and Activities as Part of the "Best Weekend All Year" - Tailgating, Glamping, 5K, Fundraising Dinner, Shopping, and Champions Live!
Lexington, Kentucky - March 2, 2018 - Known as the "Best Weekend All Year," the 2018 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event (LRK3DE), America's only four-star Eventing competition, has added several special activities to this thrilling elite equestrian competition. Equestrian Events, Inc., organizer of LRK3DE, is again set to welcome more than 80,000 spectators and dozens of the world's top Eventing superstars as they vie for $400,000 in prize money, April 26-29, in Lexington, Kentucky.
"Our special activities are going to make this year's event even more fun and exciting for our visitors," said Stewart Perry, president of Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), organizer of the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event. "The 'Best Weekend All Year' just got even better!"
The LRK3DE will again host Champions Live!, a Sunday morning discussion panel featuring U.S. equestrian champions from Olympic disciplines. Champions Live! will be held in the Kentucky Club tent after the final horse inspection on Sunday morning, April 29, from approximately 9:30-11 a.m. Champions Live! is free to attend for those with a Sunday Kentucky Three-Day grounds admission ticket. For those who cannot attend in person, the event will be live streamed on Facebook. Guest speakers to be announced soon.
Barley, Barrels and Bluegrass Fundraising Dinner
The Barley, Barrels and Bluegrass Dinner - a charity fundraising event for the Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass (JA), the official charity of 2018 LRK3DE - will be held on Thursday, April 26, at The Livery in downtown Lexington. Founded in 1868, the Livery was the city's largest stable for horses and carriages riding in and out of town. The evening includes a long-table dinner featuring a curated menu from local celebrity chefs, music from local musicians, craft cocktails and local beer and wine. Tickets are $95 per person with a limited number of tickets available. Cocktail Hour takes place 6:30-7:30 p.m. followed by a three-course dinner prepared by Jeremy Ashby, Executive Chef at AZUR restaurant, and Janey Thompson, Executive Chef at Dupree Catering & Events.Tickets are available online here. Head Up Heels Down 5K
The Head Up Heels Down 5K will take place Friday evening, April 27, at theKentucky Horse Park at 6:30 p.m. Race participants will have access to the Kentucky Horse Park grounds starting at 4 p.m. on Friday. Parking is available in the Visitor's Center parking lot. A portion of proceeds from the 5K will also go to the 2018 LRK3DE official charity, Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass (JA). Saturday Land Rover Tailgating

'Glampers' will stay in an exclusive glamping area inside the Horse Park in sturdy waterproof canvas tents outfitted with two twin beds or a queen bed. Each comfy tent includes pillow(s), bedding, a light, a rug, a table and two chairs, blanket, towels and wash cloths. NEW THIS YEAR is a $225,000 FEI CSI3* Invitational Show Jumping Grand Prix, to be held in Rolex Stadium on Saturday following the completion of Cross-Country. There will also be a $35,000 1.45m FEI ranking class, also in Rolex Stadium, after Friday afternoon's Dressage. There is no charge for Grand Prix or ranking class tickets, but seats must be reserved through the ticketing system ahead of time. All grounds admission tickets to the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event include general parking, admission to the Kentucky Horse Park and International Trade Fair, but do not include access to the competition in the Rolex Stadium. Reserved grandstand seating is sold separately from grounds admission and traditionally the best seats sell out, so everyone is encouraged to place orders as early as possible.
